TechCamp Ivano-Frankivsk 2.0 – The Next Step: Building Civil Society Using Technology
16 May 2013, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine
National Technical University of Oil and Gas
TechCamp Kyiv was not just a two-day event. It was also an opportunity to bring together civil society leaders from Ukraine and Belarus connecting them with each other while building bridges to U.S. technology experts. Our follow-up mission is to transform TechCamp into a sustainable movement that brings civil society together with the technology that they need. TechCamp Ivano-Frankivsk 2.0 is a workshop where civil society organizations share current challenges they are facing with peers and technologists and brainstorm how technology can play a role in addressing these challenges. Our goal is to bring civil society organizers together in small regional working groups to share their best practices, success stories and progress working on the proposals that they developed at TechCamp Kyiv in September of 2012. We have held two TechCamp 2.0 events in Kyiv on Friday, March 1, 2013 and in Donetsk on Thursday, April 4, 2013. The next TechCamp 2.0 will be held in Ivano-Frankivsk on Thursday, March 16, 2013. Over 60 highly-motivated participants will attend from throughout Ukraine. This interactive event will bring together American and Ukrainian technology experts working with educators, NGO staff and social media enthusiasts to find effective, low-cost ways to address real social problems by using technology. Future TechCamp 2.0 webinars will be offered online.
